secret project number 3 . . .

so my best friend, the beautiful pamela, got married last weekend and we came up with some crafty touches to make the wedding personalised. she and her lovely groom decided to name each table after a nickname ((what an original idea!)) and she gave me a list of pictures to 'illustrate' in felt for each table. then we did a Mr + Mrs to hang behind the top table too...

so here they are! each one took about a day. the backgrounds are all the wedding colours (( sweet pea colours - blue, turquoise, teal, lilac and pink)) with the date on them, as well as a heart.

the Mr + Mrs rectangle took 2 days because of the detail and it was a surprise until 2 days before the wedding as i didn't want to reveal any crucial outfit secrets! the clock tower from the venue shows the time of their wedding, and each flower ((again, in the bridesmaid dress colours)) represents the beautiful urns of flowers her mum grew for the wedding.

it was a beautiful day, everything went to plan, the weather was perfect and there was some pretty awesome dancing. i even shed a tear when my bestie came down the aisle :o)

secret project number 2....

so this is secret project number two!
my best friend is getting married in a week ((woohoo!!)) and for a little souvenir from the hen do I made all the girls a little cupcake hanger to remind them of the hen do, and it also ties in with the wedding. won't say any more as that is to do with another batch of secret projects.
here are the hangers, made with gorgeous -prestigious textiles- fabric and co-ordinating 100% wool felt. they are lightly stuffed so they hang well from the ribbon.
yey for wedding times!!

secret project number one...

So here's a project I did for a wedding of a gorgeous family friend...her amazing sisters managed to organise a secret hen party for her and they commissioned some felt hearts in the wedding colours to give each of the guests. they went down a treat and i was really pleased with them so i decided to list them as a custom item on my etsy shop... here they are :o)

any excuse . . .

i quite like valentine's day. that does not mean that i'm a hallmark addict and that i expect roses and a three course candlelit dinner. in fact i HATE that side of things. i like that we have a day when you're designated to remind the person you think is lovely that they are very lovely.
so here are some cute little heart hangers i made and put up on etsy. ostensibly, they're designed to meet the needs of valentiners, but any excuse to make something with a heart on it is fine by me!!

in fact - do you know why we use the letter X to signify a kiss? back in the olden days of yore (when not everyone could write) if someone had to sign an oath or a contract and couldn't write their name, they would draw a cross and kiss it to represent their promise. the x then came to signify the kiss. happy valentines!

getting ready for valentine's

so i'm making things for valentines's day now....hearts (obviously) but not tacky, just lovely. well, i think so. mum and dad got the prototype and it's already hanging off the mantelpiece so that's an endorsement! specially as my mum is queen of hearts. i could explain that, but i'm enjoying the slightly sinister mystery of that sentence! will put pics up this week xxxx

I went to a funeral today, of one of the most entertaining lady I knew - Mary from number 119. she always had a story, always offered a drink, always made me smile and it's very strange to think she won't be doing annual boxing day party. R.I.P. mary, you must be having so much fun up there

So yes, obviously, my new year's resolution is to write more posts on this poor, neglected blog. i have fantastic plans for 2o13...will be doing two craft fairs with friends so shall be sharing stuff. promise. plus i have discovered awesome people who make blog planners so you post regularly which is exciting and potentially successful :o)
in my (very weak) defence, my laptop was out of order for basically the whole of December.....but i have a shiny new one which i can bluetooth pictures to from my phone AND an internal card reader. so the future for this.is.hann.made blogspot looks extremely bright.

countdown to my first craft fair!!

well i've bitten the bullet, made the move and all other cliches by signing up to do my first craft fair with one of my oldest friends, Sarah. Oldest as in we've known each other since we were 7 + 8, not that she's 92. we're both always crafting and talking about it when we meet up so we're going for it and doing a Christmas craft fair at Sedgefield Racecourse in .......5 days. eeeek!! lots to do. but at least it means i might actually stay up to date with blogging this week!!

cupcake flags

morning!

my best friend is getting married in May and we came up with an awesome idea for place setting names..... 

originally, each setting was going to have a plain cupcake with a plate as the centrepiece with icing, sprinkles, sweeties etc but we thought 

                a) this is in May, in a barn in the countryside so will attract bugs.

                b) people won't want to get fancy clothes covered with pink icing and chocolate sprinkles

the new plan is for the other maid of honour to bake everyone a cake, decorate it very simply and then pop a flag with their name into it!!

AAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

i have been SO UTTERLY RUBBISH. although i have been making tonnes of stuff . . . . . . . .
all of it working out nicely, except for a TOTAL pinstrosity ((see below)) i know the instructions were teeny tiny pictures - - - but still, it's shocking.

friendship bracelets!

oh wow........
when i was little (well, in school) i ALWAYS wanted to know how to make proper friendship bracelets, but i only knew how to do plaits and macrame twists. and now, thanks to this PERFECT set of instructions from http://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-friendship-bracelet/ i have now made my first one ....age 27 :)
here it is.....and yes, the left end is where i started hence it looking a bit ropey [lolz] but as you look left to right you gotta admit it gets better!!
